I have a list of a few of the best award-winning restaurants in London that I want to try this year and Alyn Williams at The Westbury was one of them. I took advantage of having my lovely friend in town this week to try it out for lunch and it certainly did not disappoint!

Let's hit the ball!

Monday, 19 January 2015
This January, I've been good and been cooking a lot for dinner instead of eating out.

I love cooking and since the beginning of the year, I have tried to add a bit of variety to my cooking and I have to say that I am enjoying this little project of mine. Here is my easy peasy recipe for the Special Egg Fried Rice which I made for dinner tonight, accompanied by some stir fried Kai Lan (Chinese Vegetable) and Chinese Sausages.

Special Fried Rice - Shirl Style!

- Already cooked rice (from the day before) - enough for 3 ppl
- 1 pack of Tesco Finest Jumbo Raw Frozen Prawns 240g ( Defrosted!)
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 clove garlic chopped
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Cup of Frozen Sweet Corn and Peas
- Soya Sauce
- Sunflower oil for frying
- Chopped spring onions for sprinkling at the end!

- Defrost the jumbo prawns, wash thoroughly and drain. Add in some salt and pepper. Leave aside.
- In a large frying pan ( or Wok if you have one) heat a little oil. Start by frying the chopped onions and garlic. When nice and getting the golden colour, remove from pan onto a side plate.
- Heat some more oil in the pan. When very hot, add in the raw jumbo prawns. Be aware that they cook fairly quickly and you do not want to overcook them!
- As the prawns are turning pink, break in the 2 eggs and stir the pan using your wooden spoon as if doing scrambled eggs.
- Add in the fried onions and garlic, the cup of frozen sweet corn and peas.
- Finally add the cooked rice and mix them all together. It can get quite messy at this point if your pan is not big enough!
- For seasoning, add in 2 tablespoons of soya sauce. This also adds some colour to the rice.
- When you can see that the rice is now steaming hot, it is ready!!

Here you are : Special Fried Rice

Sprinkle the chopped spring onions and it's ready to be eaten! You can serve this with any veggie you have in the fridge as a side. I had some Kai Lan so I made steamed Kai lan, but it can be anything from steamed broccoli or any chinese vegetable.

Et Voila! A very simple recipe for you to replicate at home!

Saturday is Borough Market Day and we're out soaking up some sunshine on this cold sunny day!

Last weekend ... in South Kensington ...

It was a lovely day and for a change, instead of heading out to Oxford Street or Covent Garden (our usual hang out places) we headed out to South Kensington to discover the New Darwin Centre at the National History Museum. Of course, we could not go to the National History Museum without checking out the Dinosaurs Section first! :)

I bought my first pair of slip on trainers last year from H&M and I completely fell in love with this type of shoe! I am usually the Converse type of girl on my casual days but once I started wearing these slip ons, I could not have enough, especially with lots of high street brands as well as high fashion designers embracing this style. They kind of give you that 'effortlessly' chic style when worn with rolled up jeans or even summer denim shorts or skirts.

From Jimmy Choo, Celine, Prada and Burberry to Carvella, Kurt Geiger and Marks & Spencers, TopShop, H&M, Dune, Office ... they were everywhere.

A year on and I am still addicted! I usually like them in monochrome or with animal prints (as you can see above!) but now looking for a plain black one to add to my collection.

No need to break the bank to get the expensive branded ones, as the high street ones are just as nice and for Everyday Wear, as long as they are super comfy, I'm SOLD!

Saying that ... I am currently waiting for a black pair from H&M which I got for £19.99 and they have this cool embossed pattern on which adds this little extra 'style'.  (They are still available online if you wanna grab yourselves a pair! :) Can't wait for them to arrive today and wear them during the weekend!

BLOGGING at - 2014

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

What a bad idea it was to create my blog on at the beginning of 2014! From now on, I will only recommend Blogger and nothing else!

It has taken me about 2 hours today to finally get back to blogging on, trying to transfer what I could from my beautifully created site at

I do admit that the look of my blog on is prettier, but there were so many restrictions and obstacles for adding little things that I wanted that it was just not working out! Now that we are back on, I do feel happier and excited to keep blogging, hopefully much more than last year.

As it is not possible to transfer my older posts from over to, this means that I am kind of starting a new blog but if you would like to have a look at my older posts from 2014, you can find it at :

At the beginning of 2014, I had started so well with posting weekly updates of my everyday life until April 2014, when much to my disappointment, I went totally silent due to me travelling a lot and working on different projects which did not allow me any time to blog.

Let's hope this year I get a little better and keep this going for more than a year! :)

Thanks for reading!
