CHECK IN: THE MIRA HONG KONG

Tuesday, 17 May 2016
The Mira is our "home away from home" when in Hong Kong.
Located in busy Tsim Sha Tsui area in the corner of Nathan Road and Kimberley Road, nothing is too far away from The Mira and you are more than looked after when staying here.
We first picked to stay at this hotel few years back to treat ourselves on our Wedding Anniversary, not only because of its perfect location, but also because it was part of the Design Hotels network of exclusive global properties and Hubby wanted to check it out properly.

Since then, we had such good times at The Mira that it was hard for us to stay at any other properties in Hong Kong. We love the convenience of the location, the rooms, the service, the dining facilities (Check out the award winning international buffets restaurant Yamm! and also COCO for beautifully themed afternoon teas), the dessert parlour next door, the indoor swimming pool, the spa... basically... everything.

How to get here from the Airport
Take the fastest route via the Airport Express and stop at Kowloon Station. Then take the K4 Free shuttle bus from Kowloon Station and for the cost of only HK$90, you arrive on Kimberley Road in front of The Luxe Manor Hotel. Sadly, the K4 free shuttle bus doesn't stop right in front of The Mira but just walk a few metres down the road and you will arrive at The Mira with Mira porters eager to help you with your luggage as they escort you to the Lobby for check-in.

Check-in and Mira Rooms
Check-in is friendly and efficient. And we quickly make it to our room without any fuss. This time, we are in their Courtyard Room. The room décor is, as we know it, just stunning. The bed is an amazing king-size with massive pillows.
If these don't suit you, you can choose what type of pillows you want from a Pillow Menu. Yes! A Pillow Menu. Just call HouseKeeping and they will bring you that memory foam pillow with a Lavender scented silk eye mask to aid you sleep better. Bliss. :)The contemporary Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair in the corner is my favourite item in the room and adds style by just sitting there.I love how spacious the rooms are, which is such a luxury in Hong Kong!
I also love it that the shower is separate from the bath. This is how I would like my bathroom to be when I build my future house!
Marble. Glass. Lots of light. Simple. Yet practical with a luxurious feel. The Courtyard View from the Room is lovely.
During the day it is a little oasis of peace and quiet right in the middle of the city, and at night it becomes a buzzing, trendy, open air lounge, perfect for just chilling out while listening to a DJ putting on some hip tunes. One of the benefits of staying at The Mira is that in your room, you get a free wifi buddy which you get to carry around with you (outside the hotel) to stay connected. This is genius and so practical!I remember previously a Samsung Phone was given to supply wifi and provide you with the perfect tool to explore the city, but this must have changed to this wifi buddy... I must say that I did prefer the Samsung Phone where you could also make free local calls but hey... at least we are still getting free wifi when in Hong Kong :)

Mira SpaThe Mira Spa is amazing. We are always on a tight schedule when in Hong Kong and sadly we don't always have the time to make the most of the Mira Spa. When we did though, it was simply amazing. An indoor swimming pool means you can have a swim at any time. The 24hour gym is here if you want to work out (we don't) :p and finally, there is also a Lounge bar that you can enjoy while chilling in the Wellness Zone.

Location Location LocationWith this card in hand, do not be afraid to venture out and discover Hong Kong! When you are ready to go 'home', just show this to the local taxi driver.

If you want to stay close though, The Mira is perfectly located for everything you might need to do.
For a spot of shopping, MiraMall is found within the Mira Hotel building and accessible directly from the lift. From there, cross over to Miramar for more shopping and maybe lunch or dinner. There are plenty of dining options at The Mira or even Miramar. On another day, discover The One shopping mall which is just round the corner. Lots and lots of shops and again, lots of restaurants found on their higher floors. Not too far from The Mira, K11 and iSquare are all shopping malls that are just under 5 minutes walk away. To head to the biggest shopping mall of all TST, walk towards Harbour City. You will need a whole day there!
Looking for trendy bars and restaurants? Knutsford Terrace offers a variety of restaurants and bars perfect for a fun night out.
If you want to venture further, the MTR Station is just one block away. Nearest Exit is B1 on Granville Road.

What can I say? This is the perfect place to be when visiting Hong Kong and I cannot recommend it enough!

  1. After doing search of all hotel comparison sites …..Had been here on business many years ago but were delighted to see that it was just as good. Only a one night stay at the weekend but facilities, room, and evening meal were all excellent - very good value. Well trained and attentive staff.
