MY TOP 10 TV SHOWS TO WATCH

Wednesday, 1 June 2016
Bank holiday long weekend means we get an extra day to the regular weekend to just chill and catch up on some TV series! Who doesn't love Monday now? :p
Let me share with you my top 10 TV series I am currently watching. Thanks to hubby, I am well updated each week as he keeps track of all the series on an app on his phone... If you are interested to know which app this is, just let me know and I'll find out for you. :p ... it is hard enough for me to get Netflix on TV at times with all the options to choose on the remote... lol!
Let's get started now, in no particular order:
FIRST, of course, Grey's Anatomy.
Grey's Anatomy has been going for quite a few years now and even though some much loved characters have come and gone, Grey always keeps you hooked as you emotionally connect with each of the characters. Grey's Anatomy is my favourite of all times and if you are not watching it yet, I highly recommend!

Suits is another TV series that is super popular. You must have heard of (or seen) Harvey Specter and Mike Ross on social media. They are the ones who brought 'the Sexy back' to wearing suits. The storyline is about Harvey Specter, fearless lawyer, hiring Mike Ross, a college drop out with an amazing photographic memory, to join his Law Firm as an associate when Mike Ross never actually graduated from Law School. This is their secret to keep and lots of drama occurs around it... Watch it and you'll love it!

The title says it all: Scandal. This political drama TV show is all about Olivia Pope and scandals in Washington D.C. She is the ' Fixer' and she also has this "on/off" relationship with the President. Pretty Scandalous Right?? It is captivating with lots of suspense. It has the same creator as Grey's Anatomy and is just as addictive! Shonda Rhimes is a genius writer!

The White House is a popular theme lately.  House of Cards is another TV series from Netflix with the talented Kevin Spacey finally making it as the President of the United States. His fight (with his partner for life, his wife, Claire) for Power is fearless and sometimes even scary! We got to start this series late last year when it was already trending very highly on Netflix, but we are all caught up now! :D

Moving away from the President of the U.S. as the main character,  Madam Secretary is a new-ish series on Netflix still taking place in and around the White House, but this time, Téa Leoni is the star of the show and she plays it brilliantly. I'm enjoying it so far as Madam Secretary juggles life being a Mum to 3 kids, Wife, and well, the Secretary of the States. All very demanding jobs!

On a lighter note, now the comedy type - Modern Family is my favourite fun series to watch. It never fails to make me laugh and is a crowd pleaser for sure. The characters are loveable and funny in their own ways, and there is never a dull moment!

Another family comedy that's a good laugh is Black-ish. This is about a Black family, who have made it and live in a classy white neighbourhood in America. Watching his kids grow up and adapting to their new life, the father is now worried that his kids are losing out on their black heritage. Each episode is therefore about teachable lessons sometimes for the kids and often for the adults and how they get around to inculcating important values into the family. Funny and entertaining.

So far we have an American family and a Black family ... my list wouldn't be complete without a Chinese Family on screen! Fresh Off the Boat is another fun comedy to watch, based on Chef Eddie Huang's best selling memoir of the same name. It is a funny take on his Chinese family life as immigrants in America who have just moved from Chinatown in Washington D.C. to a suburb in Orlando. The Mum is my favourite character as often I can relate to her thinking during the episode. :D Haha! You'll know what I mean if you're from a Chinese Family! :p

We have just started the first season of Quantico and we are hooked. I read about this series in a magazine where there was an interview with Priyanka Chopra and how she is making it big in the U.S. Priyanka Chopra started as a Bollywood actress / singer and she is now the first Indian actress (I think) who managed to be accepted and is now doing great in the U.S. She even joined the cast of the new Baywatch series with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. Back to Quantico, this series is about young FBI recruits training at a base called Quantico. Then, a terrorist attack happens and it takes us all back with flashbacks to their training times in Quantico because one of them is the terrorist. Thrilling! Loving it so far!

At first, I wasn't a big fan but I guess it has grown on me now! The Big Bang Theory has captured my heart and I don't even mind watching some episodes again and again when it's playing on E4 in the evenings coz it is a good laugh. It's about four friends, all of them nerds in their own fields, and how their lives have changed since the hot new neighbour, Penny, moved into the flat across the roomies, Sheldon and Leonard. Much has changed since the first season as new members of cast joined along the way. I don't follow this one religiously (as I do for Grey's Anatomy :p) but it's a good watch.

Oh and a bonus one ...
New Girl is one that has also grown on me. I've been watching it casually on and off, and I'm actually interested to know what's up with that gang each week! :p Ok, I better get back to my life away from the T.V.!!

What are you watching at the moment?  Please share as I'm interested to know!

Oh and if you are wondering ... I haven't started Games of Thrones yet - and probably won't because 'fantasy' type series aren't really my thing but hey! Never say never!

Thanks for stopping by guys!

Much Love xx
Shirl
